Quirky Art

Quirky Photography isn’t just about taking photos—it’s about crafting a narrative by taking a photograph as the starting point and transforming it into a work of digital art.

Composite photographic art is a creative and expressive form of art that combines multiple photographic images into a single, cohesive work. This technique allows me to transcend traditional photography boundaries and craft visually compelling stories or abstract compositions that would be impossible to capture with a single photograph.

It also allows me to bend reality and create fantasy artworks like my best-selling “Heywood Kong” above. The starting point was a shot of Heywood in the middle of the day, several photograhs of gorillas and a lot of time in Photoshop.

Where did it all begin?

Composite art is something I’ve always played with, but during the three years I was based in Royton I looked out on to Royton town hall and couldn’t escape the thought that the clock tower was crying out for King Kong. So one day I did it. The image went down a storm on Royton and led to a series, Quirky Royton, and a calendar that ended up being sent to ex-pats all over the world.

Moving Quirky Photography to Heywood, known by locals as Monkey Town, it was obvious that I needed to start a new series, headed by a new King Kong picture.

Both series, plus many other works of photographic art are on display and for sale as limited edition, numbered and framed prints at Quercus Home Furniture on Market Street, Heywood, or via my own online shop.

Commission your own unique piece of photographic art

You could have your own, personalised and unique artwork for a lot less money than you think. Or how about a quirky and unusual present for that awkward person who’s impossible to buy for?

Commissioning a piece of composite photographic art offers a unique opportunity for individuals, families, or businesses to own a bespoke piece of art that is tailor-made to reflect personal stories, visions, or branding concepts.

When you commission a piece from me, I take the time to understand your vision, preferences, and the emotions you want to evoke. This personalised approach ensures that every piece of art is not only visually stunning, but also resonates on a personal level, making it more meaningful and impactful.
